System Feedback
Scheduling Factors:

Ensure that teams are stretched in the right way. There is no pin t in Whitfield playing JBS or MICDS. This does not benefit anyone. You should not have to play a team inside the top 12 if you are in the bottom 10. Makes no sense and does nothing to encourage players to stay in the sport if they are mercy’s. Have a better structure and ensure the games are as competitive as possible.

State Tournament Fairness:

For anyone outside of the top 15 this is a pointless tournament as the competition gap is too large. The state should be split into 2 “leagues / divisions”. This will ensure that there is more incentives for players to stay in the sport at high school and this ensures there are more teams. At the moment you risk losing teams as everyone knows that 1 of 4 or 5 teams is going to win the tournament.

Below 24 Ranking Preference:

Yes. That is a great idea.

Additional Notes

Structure the season so that there is only 2 games a week. Our athletes are teenagers and still developing and growing their bodies and brains. Add in school work and playing club sports and you can get burn out. 3 games in a week is too much. Ensure that teams are playing against the right level of opposition. No one gains anything from being involved in games where the mercy rule has to be applied. Quality vs quantity. Don’t force games for the sake of playing. Ensure that you have competitive and fun games as much as possible. This will develop and elevate the sport in the state far quicker than cramming in lots of games.
